At Dabble, workshops are a space where PLAY meets ART
Parents & Children witness letting go and allowing the process of creation. Children enjoy just being in the moment and expressing themselves. The focus is on the process of Dabbling with art while the product is just an outcome of exploration. As kids explore with colours, their fine motor skills improve. By counting pieces and colors, they learn the basics of math. When children experiment with materials, they dabble in science. Most important perhaps, when kids feel good while they are creating, art helps boost self-confidence. And children who feel able to experiment and make mistakes feel free to invent new ways of thinking.
At the Playart Workshop
The final form, the finished picture, the beautiful painting is not the goal of art for young children....the goal of playart is: to express their ideas; explore, try out, and create with new and different kinds of media; experiment with colors, lines, forms, shapes, textures, and designs; express feelings and emotions; and be creative.
According to researchers, exploring and participating in creative play triggers the use of kids’ imagination, which in turn stimulates and expands their mental capacities.
The art exploration guidelines:
There are few, if any, directions to be followed
- There is no right or wrong way
- Children focus on creatively exploring the materials, tools, and techniques
- Every finished product will look different
- The role of the facilitator is to encourage and support children’s creative process
Playart with Music/Movement
Movement is a natural expression of the body in early childhood. When art, music and Movement are combined - free expression of mind, body and spirit.
